This number is a fraud and the funny thing is that the fraudsters are coming on this page to post that it isn’t.

Rule of thumb on the internet: if one person says they have been contacted and they do not have a citi card and 100 people swear it’s the real thing, it’s a fraud…

Fraudsters, we are watching you closely. Very closely.

This is not a scam. Citicards owns over half of the companies we think we have a credit card with. It has nothing to do with whether you have a CITIBANK account. It is the credit card division of Citi. I had a legitimate fraud alert on my account and they texted and called me to verify that I was in possession of the card.

Was left several messages on my cell phone and text messages received as well asking to call Citi Banks fraud dept.. @ 1800-386-6624. I called since the messages were left on my company’s work cell phone. I don’t have a Citi bank acct. After I asked the “CSR” who answered why they were calling me, he said because of fraudelent charges on my acct. I told him my account was probably closed for non-use in many years. He said, “then that’s probably why bcz he showed a copuple of declines” so maybe someone tried to use our card. He asked me for account # to verify, I asked him didn;t you pull up with the phone # bcz of my acct# is not avail.? he said no, that info was just linked to the phone # but needs the acct # to pull acct. or a second # listed in the account. I gave him a 2nd #, he said nothing pulled up, then when he asked me for my social security number….that’s when I told him “I am not giving you any more numbers specially my social sec #! if you are from the fraud dept, then you should have more info than that since you keep calling and texting me!!” I sensed he started to get upset because I didn’t release anymore infor, so he said ok then just refer to that back of your card for the fraud dept number and contact us back with further help, ok? good bye” and he hung up. So thats when I did a search and I came up with all sorts of similar complaints.
********************* BE CAREFUL ********************DON’T GIVE ANY INFORMATION AT ALL, NOT YOUR NAME, OR ADDITIONAL PHONE #’S FOR THEM TO ALLEDGELY SEARCH FOR YOUR ACCOUNT RECORDS ********* ITS A SCAM !!!!!!!!!!!

This is pretty weird. Had a message on my land line to call this number to confirm suspicious activity on my Citibank card. When I called, I was connected with some company with no apparent connection to Citibank. I chalked it up to some kind of scam attempt. A few minutes later, however, I went to check my email and had a fraud alert from Citibank asking me to call this same number. I dialed the number from my Magicjack (VOP) on my computer, and got Citibank! Naturally, this left me somewhat confused, so I hung up and called Citibank at the number on the back of the credit card. It turns out that the suspicious activity alert was genuine. Later in the day, out of curiosity, I went back to my land line and dialed the same number — and again I was connected to the same non-related company. I have absolutely no explanation for why the number works properly on the VOP phone but not on the land line.

My wife got a call and was given this number to call back, with a case number reference. From this page I assumed that it was a scam. I called the CitiBank number on the back of my card to report the scam call and found out that the case number was valid and their had been several fraud charges. The card had not been used for many months. They explained that data base info had previously been compromised at other stores and was now showing up. They removed the charges. So call the number on the back of your card if you are suspicious.

This is a legitimate call from the fraud early warning department at Citibank.

However, if you’re in doubt – call the phone # listed on the back of your credit card. My call went straight to the fraud department instead of customer service. The reason why they were trying to call was in response to a fraudulent charge on my account that I didn’t make. So if they’re trying to call you – probably a good reason for it.

One of the messages left had a different name on it in a different account number Plus a case number.I was so disappointed with the Citibank’s CSRs in dealing with this matter is I heard three different stories.finally got a hold of the fraud department who verified this was indeed their phone number and someone used my phone number on another card.now why did Citibank not crosscheck phone numbers? I am cutting up my Citibank card and not using it anymore.

This is legitimately Citibank’s credit card fraud “early warning” number. If you are in doubt, but get a fraud alert to call this number, call instead the number on the back of your credit card. Shopping at big discounters or box stores in cities outside of where you live often triggers the alert. You’ll notice because your card will be declined on your next transaction, so you’ll need to call anyway to reactivate your account. And if you’ve ever had your card compromised, you’ll appreciate the fraud alert, much as it seems a pain in the neck at the time..
